In partnership with the Minnesota Department of Human Services, the Wabasha County Income Maintenance Unit works to help people with low incomes transition to economic stability.  Economic Stability includes cash assistance programs, food support, child care assistance, child support services, refugee services, employment services and health care programs.

 

Medical Assistance (MA)

MA is a federal program that may pay medical bills for people who cannot pay them. Recipients must be under age 21 or over age 65, pregnant, blind, disabled, or parents or caretakers of a child under age 19.  Click here for more information about MA.

Refugee Medical Assistance (RMA)

RMA is a federal program that may pay medical bills for certain refugees who cannot pay them, who cannot get MA, and who have been in the U.S. eight months or less.  Click here for more information on RMA.

 

MinnesotaCare

MinnesotaCare is a state and federal program that helps people who do not have other insurance, and do not get MA or GAMC. Recipients will pay a monthly premium.  Click here for more information on MinnesotaCare.

MNsure has an easy-to-use website where you can search and compare plans, a hotline you can call to talk with someone about your options, and places where you can sign up in your community.

 

Getting Insurance through MNsure

Our aim is to make getting health insurance through MNsure a simple, straightforward process. Here is how we will help guide you:

Step One: Access the website. Choose either the individual or small employer category.

Step Two: About You. Once you've told us some essential details, you'll see a range of plans that match what you are seeking. All the plans will meet standard requirements for value and quality.

Step Three: Select a Plan. Compare your options by price, provider or services offered.

Step Four: Reduce Your Cost. You may qualify for tax credits or health programs.

Step Five: Complete Your Enrollment. Individuals and families only need to fill out one application for any type of health coverage offered through the MNsure marketplace.
