Traci L. Green, Director:
Per MN Statute 609.02, "Probation" means a court-ordered sanction imposed upon an offender for a period of supervision no greater than that set by statute. It is imposed as an alternative to confinement or in conjunction with confinement or intermediate sanctions. The purpose of probation is to deter further criminal behavior, punish the offender, help provide reparation to crime victims and their communities, and provide offenders with opportunities for rehabilitation. Besides providing supervision, our office also prepares a variety of reports and conducts investigations for the Court.
Pursuant to Minnesota Statute 244.19, and per the order of the Court, Wabasha County Probation provides supervision to the following:
Our Department does not supervise adult felony offenders, placed on probation. These offenders are supervised by the MN Department of Corrections.
Probation Agents monitor an offender’s compliance with Court ordered conditions, which can include, treatment program(s) (chemical dependency, sex offender, domestic abuse, and mental health), restitution payments, community work service hours and abstinence from mood-altering chemicals.
DOC Agents are not in the Wabasha County office daily. You can also contact them at their Winona office at 370 W 2nd Street, Suite 210 Winona, MN 55987, phone (507)205-6100 and fax (507)453-2917.
