Wabasha County Public Health is the official health agency for the county. It's mission is to protect, promote,and preserve the health of the public.

Programs and their services available to the residents of our county are:

• Services offered in the Family Health Program include:  Maternal/Child Health, WIC, Child and Teem Check-up Consultation, Infant Follow Allong Program, free Pregnancy Testing, Universal Home Visiting to newborns, and Home Visiting to families in need of supportive services.
• Long Term Care Consultations are screenings which can help access programs to assist the elderly and disabled populations with remaining in their home for as long as possible, as well as determining the appropriateness of nursing facility placement.
• Case Management is provided for individuals enrolled in programs such as Alternative Care (AC), Community Alternative Care (CAC), Community Alternatives for Disabled Individuals (CADI), and Elderly Waiver (EW).  Case Management is a collaboration of assessments, planning, facilitation, and advocacy to assist the individual in having their health needs met to promote their quality of life in a cost effect manner.
• Personal Care Assistant Assessments are provided for individuals who qualify to access and authorize that service.
• Our Disease Prevention and Control Program offers communicable disease investigation, communicable disease educations, and Mantoux tests for TB screenings.
• We also offer a Health Education Program which offers various topics in an attempt to educate our citizens about various health issues and healthy life choices.
• Our Environmental Health Program provides inspection of and licensing of establishments providing food, beverages, lodging, public swimming pools, campgrounds, mobile home pars, and children's camps.  This program is also responsible for providing permits and inspections for individual septic treatment systems, well installations and sealings.  Public Health nuisance complaints are also handled by the staff in this program.
• Care Coordination is a service used by South Country Health Alliance and our county to make sure clients receive the assistance and health care supports they need to stay healthy.  This service is provided at no cost to the client.
• Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) is a coordinated effort involving local, state, and federal government agencies as well as volunteer organizations and businesses.  We assist communities and their citizens to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and eliminate or reduce the effects of natural and man-made emergencies and disasters.
