Meeting of May 26, 2009
The Board of County Commissioners of Wabasha County, Minnesota, convened in Regular Session at the Wabasha County Services Building, in the City of Wabasha, Minnesota on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. The meeting was called to order by Board Chairman Windhorst. The following Commissioners were present: Windhorst, Dwelle, Riester, Norman and Hall.
Motion to approve the agenda, with item F (Lease of Agricultural Land at Criminal Justice Center) removed.

There was no public comment during the public forum.
There will be tours of the new Criminal Justice Center June 16 & 17 at 6:00pm. Anyone wishing to take a tour must sign a release of liability. Town hall meetings will be planned for this summer.

Resolution No.: 2009-110
Whereas, the Wabasha County Highway Department has sought proposals and received one for herbicide application contract services; and
Whereas, the proposal from Barth Construction Inc. was the lowest proposal received per unit price at $40.25 per acre.
Now Therefore be it Resolved that the Wabasha County Board of Commissioners hereby authorizes the County Engineer to purchase herbicide application contract services from Barth Construction Inc.

Resolution No.: 2009-111
Whereas, the Probation Department is in need of copier, printer, scanner and fax machine(s) in the new CJC and,
Whereas, the Probation Department has FY 2009 grant dollars that need to be spent by 6/30/2009,
Now Therefore, Be It Resolved, that the Wabasha County Board of Commissioners hereby approves the purchase of a HP Color Laserjet copier/printer/scanner/fax machine with grant dollars.

Janet Sandwick from the Transition Team gave the Board an update on April’s boarding and medical costs for inmates. The county spent $41,959.69 on boarding and $4,253.83 on medical expenses for inmates. The inmate count as of 11:00 am on May 26 was at 18. The Transition team is finalizing the Policy and Procedures manual for the Criminal Justice Center. They will be interviewing next week for the jailer positions.
Resolution Number: 2009-112
Whereas, Wabasha County recently acquired parcel number 06.00324.00, Lot 1 Block 1 Huckleberry Subdivision through tax forfeiture; and
Whereas, the Minnesota DNR has expressed the desire to purchase this land from Wabasha County at the appraised price of $60,000 Now, Therefore, be it Resolved by the Wabasha County Board of Commissioners that parcel number 06.00324.00, Lot 1 Block 1 Huckleberry Subdivision be sold the Minnesota DNR for the appraised price of $60,000.
