The Office of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) will provide geographically based information to citizens, other governmental units, and County staff, leading to better decision-making and facilitating land transfers in Wabasha County. The Wabasha County GIS is currently being developed to increase the productivity of County staff; to respond to growth-related problems by better maintaining, graphically displaying, and integrating geographic and related data; and to provide efficient access to geographic information by the public.

Currently, the GIS office is working closely with the Sheriff's Department to complete the E-911 rural addressing system for Wabasha County. This includes the address assignment and map creation, such as rural addressing maps, for the public. Other projects include digital parcel mapping maintenance, and on going support to other departmental users.
