Family Health carries on a proud tradition of quality service to promote optimum health outcomes as related to child growth and development and human reproduction.
PreNatal Services The Family Health Program provides prenatal services and is available to pregnant teenagers as well as income eligible, at risk women. In assessing individual needs and determining what instruction might be necessary, the following areas may be covered: -Pregnancy Testing -Lifestyle Changes -Problems in Pregnancy -Labor and Delivery -Referral to Community Resources -Smoking, alcohol, drug effects on the baby -Stress Management -Preparations for Childbirth and Baby -Sexuality -Post Partum and Child Health Post Partum and Child Health Visits are offered to improve the health status of infants and children and to provide support and parenting information to the new family.
Post Partum Services These services are available to parents and to infants. The Public Health nursing visits include: -Assessment of mom and baby's health -Breastfeeding, if applicable -Relationships -Coping Skills -Role Changes -Sexuality -Contraception -Nutrition -Excercise -Environmental risks -Appropriate infant cares
Family Health Aide Program The Family Health Aide Program is an in-home service to support parents and their children on a one-to-one basis with a trained professional who is experienced in parenting. The family health aide can assist and provide guidance in: -Discipline and effective methods of parenting -Nutrition and meal planning -Building self-esteem -Communication and listening skills -Time management -Economic awareness/budgeting
Child and Teen Checkups Child and Teen Checkups are periodic screening checks on growth and development available to every child between birth and 21 years of age. A screening includes: -Information about good physical and mental health -Complete physical exam -Immunizations -Hearing and Vision exams -Lab Tests -Checks on development and growth -Referrals to the dentist
Family Planning Services This service provides low-cost clinical exams, family planning methods, counseling, education, referral, and followup.
School Health Services School health services are provided to participating schools and can include the following: -Vision, hearing, and scoliosis screenings -Health education -Health consultation to students and families -Curriculum consultation -Communicable disease control
