APPLICATIONS: Do I qualify for public assistance?
To get started, visit Minnesota Human Services Online to use an online pre-screening tool to find out if you might qualify for benefits and to register for a user ID and password. This is optional.
APPLICATIONS: How long does it take to process my application?
If you applied for cash or food support, it can take up to 30 days from the date you applied. For medical applications, it can take up to 45 days if you applied by a paper application and up to 60 days if your application is based on disability or you are applying for help paying nursing home or home care costs. If you have not heard from us within these processing times, please contact us right away.
CASH: Do I need an appointment to apply for Cash Programs?
Yes. You must call our office to schedule an interview. For some cash programs, we can offer you a phone or Skype interview for your convenient. You may use our walk-in service if that is more convenient.
CASH: When will I get my cash benefits?
Your initial benefits will be on your EBT card by 10:00 a.m. following the date we approve your case. Your ongoing benefit issuance is based on how you requested your benefits be paid:
This depends on the last digit of your case number. If your case number listed on your notice is an odd number, the benefits are available by 6:00 a.m. on the 2nd to the last day of the month. If the last number of your case number is an even number, your benefits are available by 6:00 a.m. on the last day of the month.
Your benefits will be in your account on the 1st of each month.
Checks are issued from the St. Paul Office in time for postal delivery no later than the 1st day of each month.

If you lost your EBT card, you will need to call

EBT CARD: Can I use my remaining benefits on my EBT card if I move out of state?
Yes. If you moved within the 5-state area of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa and Wisconsin, you can access remaining cash benefits using any ATM or by making a cash purchase at a grocery store. You can access remaining food benefits nationwide from your EBT account.
FOOD SUPPORT (SNAP): Do I need an appointment to apply for SNAP food benefits?
Yes. However you may do your interview in person, have an appointment time scheduled for an interview over the phone or arrange an appointment at a convenient location. You may use our walk-in service if that is more convenient.
FOOD SUPPORT (SNAP): When will I get my SNAP food benefits?
Your initial benefits will be available on your EBT card by 10:00 a.m. following the date we approve your case In some cases, you can get your initial food benefits the same day we approve your case. Your ongoing SNAP benefits are issued based on the last number of your case number that appears on your notice. The table for issuing ongoing monthly benefits is as follows:

No. You can apply several ways:
1. You may contact us to have an application mailed to you to complete and return to our office.
2. You can complete the MNSure Application for Health Coverage and Help Paying Costs and submit it to us by mail, via FAX at 651.565.3084, or scan and e-mail it to us at firstname.lastname@example.org or drop it off at our office or in our convenient drop box located at the front of our building.
3. You can apply on line at MNSure.org and submit your application electronically for fastest service.

There are different ways to apply for MA, depending on what type of coverage you need.

MISCELLANEOUS: What if I move to another county, do I need to reapply?
No. Please contact us to report that you have moved and provide your new address. We will make arrangements to transfer your case to your new county so your benefits are not interrupted.
