Minimum Needed to Apply for SNAP

Your SNAP food support benefit start date is based on the day that you submit your application.  To set the start date, all we need is your name, address and signature on page number one of the Combined Application Form,.  You can also apply online at ApplyMN and the date we receive your electronic application will also set the start date.  The day the application is received by the agency is the first day you may be eligible to receive benefits.  If we receive the application on a weekend, holiday or after business hours, your application start date will be considered to be received on the next business day.  If you only submit page one of the application, you will have 30 days to provide us with the rest of the application form.

You will need to participate in either an in-person or telephone interview for us to determine if you are eligible for the SNAP program.  If you qualify to get benefits right away, the only thing you must provide is some form of identification.

If you choose to apply using the Combined Application Form, you can submit your application to us by mail, fax or email.  You can also drop off your application at our office.  If you need to drop your application off at our offices during non-business hours or on holidays when are office is closed, we have a drop box located at the front of our building for you to submit your application for your convenience.  We will consider your application start date the next business day when using the drop box.
