The Board of Adjustment for Wabasha County consists of five members appointed by the Wabasha County Board of Commissioners. Each member serves a term of two years. At least two members must be from the unincorporated area of the County and one member must also be a member of the Wabasha County Planning Commission. The Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body created pursuant to Chapter 394.27 Minn. Stats. and has the responsibility to hear appeals from any order, requirement, decision or determination of any administrative official of the Wabasha County Zoning Department and the responsibility to consider any request for a variance from the Wabasha County Zoning Ordinance. The Board’s decision on any appeal or variance is binding unless anyone aggrieved by a decision appeals the matter to District Court. Board of Adjustment members must have a basic understanding of the zoning regulations that govern land use activity in Wabasha County and also be able to apply the appropriate standards as part of any appeal or variance.
